ROBERT HARJO: MY STORY

Like many people I have worked with, I sort of fell into my career. I took a job in a call center because I needed the money, feeling like I would move on to bigger and better things when I completed my degree in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting and Management. The problem was, I was not quite sure what sort of career I envisioned for myself and for fifteen years I went with what seemed like the next logical step.

I continued taking roles that intrigued me and leveraged my analytical abilities to eventually becoming a Business Support Analyst and Manager working with Business Process Outsourcers (BPO) throughout the world. However, I found myself missing the opportunity to pursue my passion for working with people and driving towards goals. So, I shifted into operations and continued to work with BPO partners, experiencing cultures throughout the world and helping them achieve success. Through this experience, I found that I enjoyed working individually with the leaders I supported and that in helping them achieve their goals we were able to hit larger company goals. In experiencing this success, a shift in my career began and I discovered my passion was helping individuals achieve their goals.

In 2016, I decided to pursue this passion and completed my formal coaching training. I was not certain how I would leverage this but moved forward feeling as though I was wandering in the dark. Fast forward to 2020, as a part of a leadership development program, I had the opportunity to work with a professional coach and a light turned on. Through coaching, I was able to clarify what I wanted to do. I outlined a plan to bring this to life including growing through new roles, enhancing my skillset with certifications and made a financial roadmap that would support my dream. In 2023, my dream was spring boarded into action after being laid off, but the groundwork had been set and Harjo Leadership came to life, turning a setback into a step forward.

MY COACHING APPROACH

I believe that effective coaching starts with creating a safe, comfortable space where clients feel supported to explore their ambitions. My role as a coach is to guide you in gaining perspective, discovering insights, and setting a clear path toward your goals. I know that mid-career professionals often face unique challenges—whether it’s self-doubt, the need to update skill sets, or navigating age-related biases—and I’m here to help you overcome those obstacles with confidence.

At Harjo Leadership, my mission is to empower mid-career professionals to align their work with their values, sharpen their skills, and take on new challenges. Together, we’ll craft a career path that not only brings success but also personal and financial fulfillment.
